WCLC 2024 | Enrolling underrepresented patients in thoracic cancer clinical trials

Frank Weinberg, MD, PhD, University of Illinois Chicago, Chicago, IL, discusses an analysis of clinical trial enrollment at a center serving underrepresented communities in Chicago. The study found that whilst patient enrollment in trials was above the national average, significant racial disparities were identified. Trust in institutions and understanding of the clinical trials themselves were factors behind these disparities in underrepresented communities. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
