Improving cancer care quality through reflex testing and sustainable solutions

Matthew Smeltzer, PhD, University of Memphis, Memphis, TN, discusses a project with the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) aimed at improving quality in several community cancer settings. The initiative identifies gaps in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) care, implements a six-month quality improvement cycle, and establishes data-driven benchmarks. One of the key projects focuses on implementing reflex testing, involving collaboration in a multidisciplinary team. The goal is to ensure that improvements are sustainable and measurable, leading to long-term enhancements in cancer care delivery. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
