SITC 2024 | T cell responses in responders vs. non-responders to oncolytic virotherapy in bladder cancer

Roger Li, MD, H Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL, comments on the differences in T cell responses between responders and non-responders to treatment observed in the Phase Ib trial (NCT04610671) of the oncolytic virotherapy, cretostimogene grenadenorepvec, combined with nivolumab in muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Responders showed a tumor-specific T cell response with specific markers and a systemic anti-tumor response generated during treatment, whereas non-responders did not exhibit this response. This suggests that a cancer-specific response is induced systemically in certain patients, but not in others. This interview took place at the SITC 2024 congress in Houston, TX.
