Denis Migliorini, MD, University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland, comments on the challenges posed by using CAR T-cell products in glioma, a prototypic example of the difficulty of moving this modality of treatment to solid tumors, highlighting three key hurdles: the highly immunosuppressive microenvironment, tumor antigen heterogeneity, and the blood-brain barrier.
