CAR-T Meeting 2025 | NKG2D-based CAR T-cells in solid tumors

John Maher, MD, King’s College London, London, UK, comments on the advantages of targeting NKG2D ligands with CAR T-cells. Dr Maher highlights that there are eight ligands expressed at high levels by solid tumors, making it challenging for tumors to evade therapies targeting the entire spectrum of ligands. Dr Maher notes that their adapter CAR approach, which separates the ligand binding component from the signaling apparatus, has shown superior anti-tumor efficacy compared to linear CARs while maintaining similar safety profiles preclinically. This interview took place at the EHA-EBMT 7th European CAR T-cell Meeting in Strasbourg, France.
