Marie-Pier St-Laurent, MD, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, discusses a recent narrative review examining the impact of treatment burden on disease management and quality of life in patients with genitourinary malignancies (GU). The review highlights the gaps in how patients-reported outcomes, time toxicity, and financial burdens are measured – raising important questions about whether current approaches truly capture what matters most to patients. As survival improves, the focus shifts to ensuring that patients not only live longer but also live well. This interview took place at the ASCO GU Cancers Symposium 2025 in San Francisco, CA.
