ASCO GI 2025 | Future directions for the ASPEN-06 trial in advanced gastric cancer

Kohei Shitara, MD, National Cancer Center Hospital East, Kashiwa, Japan, considers the potential progression of the randomized Phase II/III ASPEN-06 study (NCT05002127), including the possibility of a Phase III trial focusing on patients with persistent human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positivity using fresh biopsy or circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). Additionally, ASPEN-06 highlights the potential of CD47 blockade in solid tumours, a benefit demonstrated for the first time in a randomized study. This interview took place at the ASCO GI Cancers Symposium 2025 in San Francisco, CA.
