Vishal Patel, MD, FAAD, FACMS, George Washington University (GW), Washington, DC, comments on the potential of adjuvant therapy in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), highlighting the promising results of cemiplimab, which showed a 68% reduction in tumor growth, in contrast to the negative results of pembrolizumab, which was closed due to futility. Dr Patel is currently focusing on developing inclusion criteria for adjuvant therapy, targeting high-risk tumor factors and patient characteristics determined after surgery. This approach aims to identify patients who would benefit from adjuvant therapy, in contrast to neoadjuvant therapy, which may consider other biomarker tests. This interview took place at the 11th World Congress of Melanoma and 21st EADO Congress in Athens, Greece.
