ESMO Breast 2025 | Evaluating predictors of benefit of CDK4/6 inhibition in breast cancer

Fabrice André, MD, PhD, Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France, discusses whether specific patient or molecular profiles influence outcomes from continued CDK4/6 inhibition following disease progression in HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. Observed outcomes are more closely tied to the choice and sequence of CDK4/6 inhibitors—particularly when switching from palbociclib to abemaciclib—rather than the identification of genomic alterations or patient subgroups. This interview took place at the 2025 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Breast Cancer Annual Congress in Munich, Germany.
