ASCO 2025 | Final results of the CheckMate 901 trial in cisplatin-ineligible patients with mUC

Jacqueline Brown, MD, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA, discusses final outcomes from the Phase III CheckMate 901 trial (NCT03036098) of nivolumab and ipilimumab with gemcitabine-carboplatin in previously untreated, cisplatin-ineligible patients with unresectable or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC). While overall survival did not meet the predefined threshold for significance, the immunotherapy combination demonstrated encouraging durability of response and landmark survival. These findings highlight potential benefits of a finite, chemotherapy-free regimen in this challenging population. This interview took place during the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
