ASCO GI 2026 | NEOSUMMIT-01 shows perioperative toripalimab + chemo improves 3-year EFS & OS in gastric/GEJ cancer

Shu-Qiang Yuan, MD, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China, discusses 3-year follow-up of the prospective, randomized, Phase II NEOSUMMIT-01 trial (NCT04250948) which evaluated perioperative PD-1 antibody toripalimab combined with chemotherapy versus chemotherapy alone in locally advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancer. Perioperative toripalimab combined with chemotherapy demonstrated significantly improved 3-year event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) compared to chemotherapy alone, suggesting it as a promising treatment option for patients with locally advanced, resectable gastric or GEJ adenocarcinoma. This interview took place at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium in San Francisco, CA.
