ASCO 2026 | ctDNA-guided therapy: transforming treatment decisions across tumor types

Joaquim Bellmunt, MD, PhD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, comments on the significance of the IMvigor011 trial (NCT04660344) in personalizing adjuvant therapy using circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and its potential to change the treatment paradigm. Similar approaches are being explored in other trials, such as bladder preservation, where monitoring minimal residual disease through blood and urinary tumor DNA (utDNA) is becoming increasingly important. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
