ASCO 2026 | Low-dose tamoxifen could prevent breast cancer in at-risk young premenopausal women

Andrea De Censi, MD, Champalimaud Centre, Lisbon, Portugal, discusses low-dose tamoxifen in premenopausal women with breast cancer. Low-dose tamoxifen was well tolerated but is not recommended in premenopausal women due to poor control of residual disease. A beneficial effect was found on control of contralateral disease which could recommend low-dose tamoxifen for breast cancer prevention in at-risk young premenopausal women. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
