ASCO 2026 | How can biomarker findings guide treatment algorithms in G/GEJ cancers?

Paolo Manca, MD, Fondazione IRCCS Instituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milan, Italy, discusses how biomarker findings could be used to guide treatment algorithms in advanced gastric and gastroesophageal (G/GEJ) cancers following results from the ARMANI (NCT02934464) trial. In biomarker-negative patients, it may be acceptable to provide more toxicity using paclitaxel-based chemotherapy with oxaliplatin as these patients cannot be offered targeted treatments. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
