Kohei Shitara, MD, National Cancer Center Hospital East, Kashiwa, Japan, discusses highlights from ASCO 2026 in upper gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. Dr Shitara first highlights the ONO-4578-08 trial (NCT06256328), which compared first-line chemotherapy and nivolumab with or without the EP4 inhibitor ONO-4578 in patients with HER2-negative unresectable advanced or recurrent gastric/gastroesophageal junction cancer. In addition, Dr Shitara discusses the HERIZON-GEA-01 trial (NCT05152147) examining the HER2-directed bispecific antibody zanidatamab plus chemotherapy and tiselilizumab, zanidatamab plus chemotherapy, and trastuzumab plus chemotherapy in HER2-positive locally-advanced, unresectable, or metastatic gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma.
