ESMO 2026 | Addressing challenges in implementing individualized mRNA neoantigen therapy

Georgina Long, PhD, MBBS, FRACP, FAHMS, University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia, describes the feasibility of intismeran autogene, an mRNA-based individualized neoantigen therapy, which was assessed in the INTerpath-001 study (NCT05933577). While the process from tumor biopsy to injection is feasible, taking around six to eight weeks, the main challenge lies in adapting to the new infrastructure and workflow, and that approvals will be presented to health authorities and will vary by jurisdiction. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 Congress in Madrid, Spain.
