ESMO 2026 | MELODY-1: MB097 and pembrolizumab in anti-PD-1-resistant melanoma

Paolo Ascierto, MD, Istituto Tumori Fondazione Pascale, Naples, Italy, discusses the preliminary results of a Phase I study (NCT06540391) investigating MB097, a pill containing nine different bacteria, in combination with immunotherapy in patients who failed previous immunotherapy. The addition of vancomycin, an antibiotic used to alter the microbiota, appears to enhance the activity of MB097, with signs of durable responses observed in this cohort. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 Congress in Madrid, Spain.
