GU Cancers 2025 | Emerging technologies in the development of RCC biomarkers

Simpa Salami, MD, MPH, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, discusses emerging technologies which can enhance understanding surrounding biomarkers in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Spatial transcriptomics allows the characterisation of multiple areas of the cancer to inform on expression and molecular markers for translation to clinic. Additionally, liquid biopsy biomarkers, including the circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) and KIM-1, which could be prognostic or predictive in patient therapy response. This interview took place at the ASCO GU Cancers Symposium 2025 in San Francisco, CA.
