ESMO Breast 2024 | Early response and long-term outcomes in the CLEOPATRA trial

Evandro De Azambuja, MD, PhD, Jules Bordet Institute, Brussels, Belgium, discusses a recently published exploratory analysis of the CLEOPATRA trial (NCT00567190), which evaluated first-line treatment for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer. The study examined early response to trastuzumab and pertuzumab in predicting long-term outcomes. Findings suggest that patients achieving a complete or partial response within the first three months had significantly better overall survival. This interview took place at the 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Breast Cancer Annual Congress in Berlin, Germany.
