GU Cancers 2025 | Comparing survival outcomes in high-risk clear cell versus non-clear cell RCC

Giacomo Musso, MD, IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy, discusses a multicenter study comparing survival outcomes in high-risk localized clear cell (ccRCC) and non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma (nccRCC) treated with adjuvant pembrolizumab. Those with high-grade or T3 nccRCC had similar 5-year cancer-specific and overall survival rates to ccRCC. Histology was not an independent predictor of mortality, highlighting the need for further trials evaluating adjuvant systemic therapy in high-risk nccRCC to improve treatment strategies. This interview took place at the ASCO GU Cancers Symposium 2025 in San Francisco, CA.
