ASCO 2017 | CALM: Managing cancer and living meaningfully

Gary Rodin • 3 Jun 2017

Gary Rodin, MD, from the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto, Canada tells us about his unique study, CALM (managing cancer and living meaningfully). This was a randomized controlled trial of psychological intervention for patients with advanced cancer. Patients and their families, who are diagnosed with cancer, have an overwhelming set of challenges to overcome. How do we manage our symptoms? How do we make decisions? How do we continue to feel good about ourselves? Dr Rodin’s study demonstrates that training healthcare professionals to make time and space to deal with these issues is clinically meaningful.

Recorded at the American Society of Oncology (ASCO) 2017 Annual Meeting held in Chicago, IL.
