ASCO 2024 | The potential of ctDNA in monitoring disease progression in metastatic colorectal cancer

Kanwal Pratap Singh Raghav, MBBS, MD, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, discusses the potential of circulating tumor (ctDNA) in monitoring disease progression in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). While acknowledging the promise of ctDNA, Dr Raghav highlights challenges such as the lack of standardized assays and the need for more randomized trials to establish appropriate cutoffs and testing intervals. Despite these hurdles, he expresses optimism about the future integration of ctDNA monitoring into regular clinical practice, emphasizing its potential to enhance precision care in mCRC. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
