Anouk Hiensch, MD, UMC Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands, tells us more about the PREFERABLE-EFFECT (NCT04120298) study which evaluated the effects of a structured and individualized exercise program on fatigue and health-related quality of life in patients with metastatic breast cancer. This multinational, randomized controlled trial included patients with metastatic breast cancer from five European countries (Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands) and Australia. The study showed significant beneficial effects of a supervised exercise intervention offered during palliative treatment on fatigue, health-related quality of life, and other clinically relevant outcomes. This interview took place at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
