EAU 2025 | Device-assisted intravesical therapy for BCG-unresponsive bladder cancer

Félix Guerrero-Ramos, MD, PhD, Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, Madrid, Spain, discusses the evolving role of device-assisted intravesical therapy in treating bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) non-responsive non–muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Hyperthermic intravesical chemotherapy (HIVEC), has shown promise and is being assessed in the ongoing HIVEC-HEAT trial (ISRCTN49174478) in the UK. Dr Guerrero-Ramos also reviews sustained-release therapies like TAR-200 and TAR-210, which offer promising results for high-risk patient groups including those with carcinoma in situ (CIS). This interview was recorded at the 2025 European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress in Madrid, Spain.
