WCLC 2022 | Remaining questions surrounding the use of radiotherapy in SCLC

Neal Sean McCall, MD, Winship Cancer Institute, Emory University, Atlanta, GA, talks on remaining questions regarding the use of radiation in small cell lung cancer (SCLC). In the extensive-stage setting, whether or not consolidative radiation to the thorax is indicated remains to be elucidated and is currently being investigated in a randomized control trial. For patients with limited-stage SCLC cancer, whether or not prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) is used following completion of concurrent chemoradiation is being addressed in the Phase III MAVERICK (NCT04155034) study, which is currently suggesting observation over PCI. This interview took place at the IASLC 2022 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Vienna, Austria.
