BNOS 2022 | When do patients with newly diagnosed brain tumors need a staging CT scan?

Hemanth Vupputuri, MBBS, The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool, UK, discusses selecting patients with newly diagnosed brain tumors who will receive a staging CT scan. Whilst many healthcare systems such as ones in the US can perform MRI or CR scans soon after diagnosis to differentiate the tumor between a primary or metastatic tumor, British patients may experience long waiting times in receiving a scan. To improve patient outcomes in the UK, timely CT scans in the right group of patients after discovery of the tumor are necessary. This interview took place at the British Neuro-Oncology Society (BNOS) Annual Meeting 2022.
