WCLC 2023 | An overview of NUT carcinomas

Jia Luo, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, shares an overview of NUT carcinomas and its characteristics. Although its discovery is relatively recent, NUT carcinoma is one of the most aggressive solid tumours. The cancer requires a molecular diagnosis as a specific fusion oncoprotein drives the cancer’s physiology. This fusion is not easily picked up through next generation sequencing and the cancer often appears similar to poorly differentiated or squamous tumours. Dr Luo emphasies that NUT carcinoma is underappreciated as a thoracic malignancy and requires quick identification. This interview took place at the 2023 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in Singapore, Singapore.
