Camillo Porta, MD, A. Moro University of Bari, Bari, Italy, discusses findings from two Phase III trials, CONTACT-03 (NCT04338269) and TiNivo-2 (NCT04987203), which show that immediately sequencing immune checkpoint inhibitors after progression provides no therapeutic benefit. Currently, patients progressing on these inhibitors are treated with single anti-angiogenic agents, though the optimal approach remains uncertain. Further studies are needed to evaluate long-term immunotherapy rechallenge strategies, suggesting that while immediate rechallenge is ineffective, exploring long-term strategies could offer new therapeutic options. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
