Xuefeng Leng, MD, PhD, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Chengdu, China, presents promising results from the Phase III SCIENCE trial (NCT05244798), which compared chemoradiotherapy (CRT) with sintilimab to chemotherapy with sintilimab and CRT alone, in resectable locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The study’s primary endpoint showed a remarkably high pathological complete response (pCR) rate in the CRT plus sintilimab group, compared to lower results in the other arms. While long-term survival data is still pending, these short-term results establish the potential of this combination treatment in improving outcomes. This interview took place at the ASCO GI Cancers Symposium 2025 in San Francisco, CA.
