BNOS 2022 | The role of infiltrative glioblastoma tumors in recurrence post-surgery

Ruman Rahman, PhD, University of Nottingham, Nottingham, UK, comments on the lack of efficacious targeted therapies for glioblastoma and the presence of infiltrative tumors in patients who receive first-line surgery. Despite various genes relating to glioblastoma being sequenced, targeted therapies have failed to be approved for glioblastoma. Intratumor heterogeneity in the remaining tumor is often undetected and causes recurrence in patients. Dr Rahman consequently emphasizes the need to target the infiltrative tumors as opposed to the core tumor that is resected. This interview took place at the British Neuro-Oncology Society (BNOS) Annual Meeting 2022.
