BNOS 2022 | Barriers in effective drug delivery for brain tumors

Ruman Rahman, PhD, University of Nottingham, Nottingham, UK, provides an overview of challenges in delivering drugs to the brain. Whilst temozolomide is typically given systemically or orally, systemic administration limits the dosage and the blood-brain barrier can stop drugs from entering the brain where the tumor is located. Novel techniques such as local administration directly to the tumor during surgery is currently being assessed. This interview took place at the British Neuro-Oncology Society (BNOS) Annual Meeting 2022.
