Saumil Ghandi, MD, PhD, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, explores the future of local consolidation therapy in the treatment of EGFR-mutated lung cancer. Data from the NorthStar study (NCT04479306) showed a 90% control rate for tumors where radiation was delivered in patients who received radiotherapy alongside osimertinib. When progression occurred, it was not seen at sites where local consolidation therapy had been given. In the future, combinations of local and systemic therapies could make this disease chronic. This interview took place at the 2026 European Lung Cancer Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark.
