ICCN 2022 | Importance of strong communication skills when caring for seriously ill patients

Judith Paice, PhD, RN, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, IL, explains the key messages from the abbreviated version of the interprofessional communication curriculum from City Of Hope, Duarte, CA. People with serious illness need healthcare professionals with strong communication skills, and there is much to be learnt from other professionals in a multidisciplinary team. Dr Paice also talks on the differences in communication with patients who are dying, and the importance of having strong communication with their families.
