GU Cancers 2025 | The future of gut microbiome modulation in managing urothelial carcinoma

Soufyan Annakib, MD, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nîmes, Nîmes, France, comments on the emerging role fecal transplantation or germ supplementation to modulate the patient’s microbiome and improve the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors such as pembrolizumab. RNA-Seq can also be further utilized to analyze stool samples of patients before treatment to identify potential biomarkers or signatures associated with treatment response.
