ESMO GI 2026 | POLAR: pembrolizumab and olaparib in HRD metastatic pancreatic cancer
Wungki Park, MD, MS, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center explores background and findings from the Phase II POLAR trial (NCT04666740) of pembrolizumab and olaparib in homologous-recombination-deficient (HRD) metastatic pancreatic cancer. Patients were grouped into three cohorts: those with core HRD mutations in BRCA1/BRCA2/PALB2), those with non-core HRD mutations and those with platinum sensitive tumors without core or non-core HRD mutations. Those with core HRD mutations had better outcomes than the latter two cohorts, with improved progression-free survival and objective response rate. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
