ASCO 2024 | Cohort size and gene signatures in optimizing treatment for colon cancer

Alberto Puccini, MD, IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, Milan, Italy, discusses the importance of cohort population size in clinical trials, particularly within the Phase III TOSCA trial (NCT00646607) investigating treatment of high risk stage II/III colon cancer. With a promising signature identifying a differentially expressed gene with significant prognostic value, the requirement for this to be explored further in a larger group of patients is emphasized for robust validation. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
