ESMO 2024 | Assessing the role of adjuvant therapy in the real-world setting for stage III melanoma
Hildur Helgadottir, MD, PhD, Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden, discusses the findings from a nationwide registry-based study on patients with stage III cutaneous malignant melanoma treated with adjuvant therapy. While the overall survival (OS) curves remain unchanged with longer follow-up, she emphasizes the need for more data, particularly from the upcoming EORTC 1325-MG/KEYNOTE-054 trial (NCT02388906). A careful discussion is needed with patients regarding the potential to monitor closely and reserve adjuvant treatments, which have toxicities, for those who might truly need it.
