ISOPP 2021 | Challenges of CAR-T therapies in hospital pharmacies

Joan Vinent Genestar, PharmD, BCOP, BCPPS, Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, Barcelona, Spain, describes some of the key challenges associated with chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy for pharmacists. He highlights the importance of training pharmacists in the correct handling, storage and preparation of novel cell-based products, as well as the need for improved pharmacy facilities and infrastructure to allow the correct storage of these high-cost, patient-specific therapies. This interview took place during the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP) 2021 Virtual Symposium.
