ASCO 2026 | Antigen presentation machinery suppression in small cell lung cancer

Triparna Sen, PhD, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, discusses the role of antigen-presenting machinery (APM) suppression as a mechanism of immune evasion in small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Using real-world cohort and clinical trial data, findings indicate that the majority of patients with SCLC exhibit low APM expression, associated with an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and poorer survival outcomes, highlighting potential novel therapeutic targets to enhance immunotherapy efficacy. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
