WCLC 2024 | HANSE: PLCOm2012 vs NELSON criteria for lung cancer screening

Jens Vogel-Claussen, MD, Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany, discusses the HANSE study (NCT04913155), which prospectively compares the effectiveness of the PLCOm2012 and NELSON criteria for lung cancer screening. It discusses how the PLCOm2012 model demonstrated superior lung cancer detection rates and positive predictive value (PPV) compared to NELSON criteria in a high-risk northern German cohort. Higher rates of lung cancer were also found in females, who also had lower incomes and more comorbidities. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
