ICCN 2022 | The ISNCC’s policy response to COVID-19

Stella Aguinaga Bialous, RN, DrPH, FAAN, University of California San Francisco School of Nursing, San Francisco, CA, describes some of the key actions taken at the policy level by the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Given concerns around the potential impact of the pandemic on cancer diagnosis, screening and continuation of care, as well as the global perception of nurses and the reassignment of the cancer nursing workforce, the ISNCC COVID-19 Position Statement was developed to provide recommendations to support COVID-19 prevention and control strategies for cancer patients. The ISNCC is also in the process of developing policy statements around nursing leadership and palliative care for children, and are revising existing statements on topics such as tobacco control. This interview took place at the virtual 2022 International Conference on Cancer Nursing (ICCN).
