Randy Sweis, MD, of the University of Chicago Medical Center, Chicago, IL, speaks at the 2019 Genitourinary Cancers Symposium, held in San Francisco, CA, and briefly discusses the types of immunotherapy resistance mechanisms that are currently being studied. Dr Sweis specifically mentions genomic characteristics, germline predictors, and urinary microbiome markers that are being studied in order to predict patient responses to immunotherapy. Dr. Sweis stresses the importance of examining all these factors in tandem and how they affect treatment and immune response together as well as on an individual level.
