Maria Gion, MD, Ramón y Cajal University Hospital, Madrid, Spain, discusses the influence of recent trials for the combination of AKT inhibitors with chemotherapies on the treatment landscape for patients with advanced triple-negative breast cancer (aTNBC). Dr Gion highlights that, whilst results are promising, bigger trials combining eribulin or other drugs with AKT inhibitors are needed to say whether this could become a standard treatment or how it will fit in treatment sequencing. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
