Avantika Gupta, PhD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, discusses the role of APOBEC3 mutational signatures as biomarkers of poor outcomes in metastatic breast cancer. APOBEC3 activity has been found to drive resistance to therapies, and these insights highlight potential therapeutic strategies, including targeting APOBEC-associated PIK3CA mutations, which may enhance sensitivity to PI3K-alpha inhibitors. This interview took place at the 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
