ESMO 2024 | Safety of intracranial CD1c/CD141 and checkpoint inhibitors in rHGG

Bart Neyns, MD, PhD, Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel, Brussels, Belgium, gives an overview of safety findings from a Phase I trial (NCT03233152) of intracranial administration of nivolumab, ipilimumab, and autologous myeloid dendritic cells (myDC) in patients with recurrent high-grade glioma (rHGG) following tumor resection. No unexpected, grade 5 adverse events were reported, but whilst the rates of immune related adverse events are typically low, there was some concern relating to bacterial meningitis from administration of checkpoint inhibitors into the resected cavity. Edema of brain after the surgery was also treated with steroids and subsequent bevacizumab. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
