Benjamin Besse, MD, PhD, Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France, discusses updated findings from the Phase III MARIPOSA study (NCT04487080), where first-line (1L) treatment with amivantamab plus lazertinib significantly improved progression-free survival compared to osimertinib in patients with EGFR-mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Fewer patients receiving amivantamab plus lazertinib developed resistance mutations like MET amplification or EGFR alterations. These findings suggest that amivantamab plus lazertinib alters the biology of acquired resistance, particularly through EGFR and MET inhibition. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
