ASCO 2026 | Long-term safety of pregnancy after breast cancer: Young Women’s Breast Cancer Study

Kimia Sorouri, MD, MPH, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses long-term safety outcomes of post-diagnosis pregnancy in young breast cancer survivors from the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Study (NCT01468246), a prospective multicenter cohort study. With over a decade of follow-up, neither pregnancy nor live birth following breast cancer diagnosis adversely impacted breast cancer-free interval, distant recurrence-free interval, or overall survival, regardless of estrogen receptor status, providing reassurance for young patients with breast cancer considering future fertility. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
