IASLC TTLC 2022 | The role of radiotherapy in mesothelioma and thymic carcinoma

Charles Simone, MD, FACRO, New York Proton Center & Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, comments on how and when to utilize radiotherapy in malignant pleural mesothelioma and thymic carcinomas. Whilst radiotherapy is typically administered after treatment in mesothelioma, patients may benefit from radiotherapy before surgery or in conjunction with immunotherapy. Adjuvant radiotherapy has additionally demonstrated efficacy in patients with thymic carcinoma and Dr Simone describes advanced forms of radiotherapy including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and proton beam therapy. This interview took place at the 2022 Targeted Therapies of Lung Cancer Meeting (TTLC 2022).
