APCCC 2024 | Managing rising rates of prostate cancer in Africa

Onyeanunam Ekeke, MBBS, University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, discusses the rising rates of prostate cancer in African men. In sub-Saharan Africa, prostate cancer is the leading cause of cancer in men over 40 years old and there is an increasing number of cases due to increased diagnosis and genetic and environmental factors. However, poor infrastructure and awareness means that patients will present with later stages of disease, leading to worse outcomes. This interview took place at the 2024 Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference (APCCC) in Lugano, Switzerland.
