BNOS 2022 | Chemoseed, a localized implant to treat glioblastoma

Christopher McConville, PhD, University of Birmingham, Birmingham, UK, describes the development of Chemoseed, a novel implant that enables localized drug delivery to glioblastoma tumors. The implant aims to target tumors that are unresectable and the high locally-administered dose will be less toxic than the systemically-administered dose. Irinotecan will additionally be the drug of choice as opposed to temozolomide, due to lower toxicity and the implant is constructed from a polymer that is safe to use in the brain. This interview took place at the British Neuro-Oncology Society (BNOS) Annual Meeting 2022.
